Description

Multicolored Kandeel: A fusion of distinct shades of Rainbow.

Description:- A paper kandeel (lantern) is made of thin, brightly coloured paper. An amalgamation of different hues of a rainbow makes paper kandeel truly fascinating. Paper lanterns come in various shapes and sizes, as well as various methods of construction. The making time depends on the choice of material and the geometrical shape of the entire structure. This kandeel is not foldable. They are meant to be carried, hung, or mounted on stands.

Materials Needed:-

  • Multicolour paper sheet ( red , green, blue, orange, etc.)
  • Connecting wires and plug, & offcourse A.C power supply.
  • A light bulb (tungsten filament type ) and bulb holder.
  • A pair of scissors.

In the pic below you can see the items required for making this kandeel.

Cut Identical Pieces

As we are going to shape it like a marshmallow, we would require approximately 35 pieces, which need to be cut off of the paper sheet.

Utilise every corner of the paper sheet, but don't compromise on the shape of the paper pieces. Even if two paper pieces are not identical, the kandeel will not take shape, and then you will either have to cut some pieces again or try making it from the beginning (in case you have already incorporated the wrong pieces in the first place).

The choice of colours totally depends on the maker. Ensure that you do not arrange the same coloured pieces adjacent to each other. Doing it the wrong way can make your kandeel look ugly.

Start joining paper pieces adjacent to each other

This is the most time-consuming procedure. Start with patience. It can take upto 3 hours to complete the paper joining procedure. Surprisingly, there is no need of any glue/Adhesive.

Keep checking it from inside also. It gives you an idea about the symmetry of kandeel. It must look like this from inside.

Fit a small light bulb inside it.

A hanging lantern, or kandeel, can only serve its purpose when it glows from inside during the night. For this, just take a red-coloured light bulb that consumes negligible power and hang it inside this structure. Remember to extrapolate out connecting wires from its canopy.
